OUR STANDARD OF CARE

We follow the ACIP-recommended immunization schedule

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is a committee of independent medical and public health experts convened by the CDC. ACIP reviews the available clinical trial data, epidemiological evidence, vaccine safety records, and cost-effectiveness analyses for every vaccine before issuing its recommendations.

The ACIP schedule is updated annually and represents the current consensus of the nation’s leading immunization experts. It is endorsed by the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and other major medical organizations.

At PrimeCare of Novi, our immunization recommendations for children and adults are based on the current ACIP schedule. We believe this represents the best available evidence for protecting our patients from vaccine-preventable disease.

How ACIP makes its recommendations

1

In-depth review of clinical trial data for each vaccine
2

Epidemiological analysis of vaccine-preventable disease burden
3

Vaccine safety and adverse event surveillance review
4

Assessment of health equity and implementation feasibility
5

Annual update with any new evidence or recommendations

Michigan Care Improvement Registry

Your immunization record — always available, wherever you go

Every vaccine we administer is reported to the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) — the state’s official immunization record system.

YOUR VACCINES ARE ON FILE — PERMANENTLY

Every vaccine we give goes to the Michigan state registry

As required by Michigan law, we report all administered vaccines to the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR). MCIR is a secure, statewide immunization information system maintained by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

This means your vaccination records are always accessible — to you, to other Michigan providers with your permission, and to schools or employers that need documentation. You will never lose track of which vaccines you or your child have received.

Records accessible when changing providers or moving

Available for school enrollment and sports physicals

Prevents duplicate vaccinations

Helps identify when you or your child are due for the next dose

A NOTE TO PARENTS

We do not mandate vaccines. We do not turn families away.

We understand that parents research carefully, weigh their options, and make decisions about their children’s health with deep care and genuine intention. We respect that — even when our recommendations differ.

🤝

Your family is welcome here

We do not exclude patients from our practice based on vaccine choices. A family that declines certain vaccines is still a family that deserves good primary care — and a physician who will be honest with them about what the evidence says.

💬

All we ask is an open conversation

Our only request is that we be allowed to discuss immunizations — what is recommended, why, and what the evidence shows. You make the final decision. We make sure you have the information to make it well. That is what a good patient-physician relationship looks like.

❤️

We know you want what is best

No parent makes vaccine decisions carelessly. We have seen the research parents bring in, the questions they ask, and the love behind every one of them. We honor that. Our job is to be a trusted partner in your child’s health — not a gatekeeper.

Our commitment to you

We follow the ACIP schedule because we believe it represents the best available evidence for protecting children and adults from serious illness. We share that recommendation clearly and honestly. And then we support our patients — whatever they decide — with the same quality of care we give to everyone. That will not change.

What is the ACIP and why do you follow their schedule?

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is a group of independent medical and public health experts convened by the CDC. They review clinical trial data, safety records, and disease epidemiology for every vaccine before issuing recommendations. The ACIP schedule is endorsed by the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. We follow it because it represents the current best evidence for protecting our patients.

Do you require vaccines to be a patient at your practice?

No. We do not mandate vaccines and we do not exclude families from our practice based on their vaccine choices. We believe every family deserves access to good primary care regardless of their immunization decisions. Our only ask is that we be allowed to have an open conversation about what is recommended and why — the final decision always belongs to the patient and family.

Will my vaccines be reported to the state?

Yes. As required by Michigan law, we report all administered vaccines to the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) — the state’s official immunization record system. This benefits you by keeping a permanent, accessible record of your immunizations that is available to other Michigan providers, schools, and employers when needed. You can view your records at MCIR.org.

Do you offer the flu shot?

Yes. We administer the annual influenza vaccine for children and adults each fall season. ACIP recommends annual flu vaccination for everyone 6 months and older. Call our office to check on flu shot availability and timing each season.

I am an adult who never received certain childhood vaccines. Can I catch up?

Yes. ACIP publishes catch-up immunization schedules for adults who missed vaccines in childhood. We can review your vaccination history and determine which vaccines may still be recommended for you based on your age, health conditions, and prior immunization record. Call our office to schedule a vaccine review appointment.

PERSONALIZED CARE FOR FAMILIES

In a standard primary care appointment, there is rarely enough time to have a real conversation about complex topics — vaccines, nutrition, developmental concerns, chronic conditions. You leave with questions unanswered because the clock runs out.

Our Personalized Care program is built for families who want that conversation. Extended appointments mean your physician can sit with you, go through your concerns one by one, share the evidence, answer your questions fully, and help you make decisions you feel confident about — for every member of your family.

Extended appointments — no clock watching, no rushing

A physician who knows your children and your family history

Direct physician availability when questions come up between visits
